Protecting Yourself From Spyware

If you practice diligence and follow some basic rules then you will have a much better chance of preventing the ability of a malware application from infecting your computer. Most computer spyware today is installed without your knowledge when you visit a website or download an application that will place the application on your hard drive. So one way to prevent the installation by not visiting unscrupulous web sites when you surf the web.

There has been a strong increase in the number of computer malware / spyware out on the net the past few years. Many experts in the field expect the number of infections to only increase as time goes along. Spyware are actually programs that are installed on your computer but you usually do not know of the installation and many times you did not even approve the installation. These programs can cause all types of problems for your computing experience, which range from annoying popups to someone actually stealing your personal data and impersonating your identity. You may also experience a reduction in performance of your system, since many times these programs will consume a lot of computing power as the program performs its tasks. Even though the number of computer spyware infections are increasing exponentially does not mean all is lost and you should just throw your hands up and turn off your computer forever.

Since most spyware is installed because of security holes in your browser always ensure you have the latest version of updates for your Operating System and Browser. You can also switch your Web Browser to something like FireFox which is targeted less than the more popular Browsers.

Also ensure you have a spyware protection and remover application installed. This is one of the most important items you can do to protect yourself from these infections and help to minimize the chance that you will be come infected with these types of applications

Eliminate The Belief That Your Illness Is Genetic

Many illnesses, emotional and otherwise, are often said to be genetic in origin. When one is told that their particular problem is of a genetic nature it often leaves them feeling helpless since, to date, the idea of reversing something that is stored deep within one’s structural DNA, which exists in every single cell of one’s body, is considered an impossibility.

So where is one left when one is given such a “genetic diagnosis”. Well apart from feeling helpless one is also given the option to try to correct the symptoms of their problem, and only the symptoms, with some form of medication or other supplementation. This can come from allopathic or alternative medicine sources.

The root cause, i.e. the genetic root, is still in place however and apparently can never be eliminated. Hence we have a situation where the treatment is essentially a palliative one. That is, it only tries to stem the symptoms but not eliminate the cause itself. Unfortunately, many individuals accept this as a solution to their problem because of the fundamental belief that the illness is genetic and therefore its complete elimination is accepted as impossibility.

In an article entitled “All You Problems Are Based in False Beliefs” I make the point that any problem is essentially the result of deeply held false beliefs. One belief that causes a problem for an individual is the belief that their particular illness is of a genetic nature.

Now this may sound strange to you perhaps. You might say, well that’s just a fact, and I can’t change it, so what does the belief have to do with it? Well as I hope to show you here it is the “belief” that your illness is genetic that is the problem.

Now I’m not suggesting that you choose to believe that it isn’t. That would just be going into denial. Denial is really a state of trying to lie to oneself about something that they already believe inside. The purpose of such denial would supposedly be about trying to stem the sadness about knowing that the illness is genetic and that nothing can be done about it.

What I am suggesting however is a brief analysis of the belief itself. Let me show you what I mean:

We choose to believe that a given illness is genetic so that,

a) It will allow us to accept that there is little we can do about it other than try to manage it, so that,

In accepting it we can feel better, more at peace, happier and so we can live a more contented life.

Or that,

b) It will relieve us of responsibility for having caused it, so that,

We can feel we’re not at fault so that,

We can feel better, more at peace, happier and so we can live a more contented life.

Or that,

c) It will allow us to work hard at finding a way to find a cure, so that,

We can find it, be cured and so that,

We can feel better, more at peace, happier and so we can live a more contented life.

Hence in all three scenarios above the conclusion appears to be that:

d) Believing that our illness is genetic allows us to feel better, more at peace, happier and so we can live a more contented life.

Now does statement d) above make sense to you? Probably not. However please notice whether you agreed with a), b) or c) above from which d) was derived in each case.

So you see, if you believe any one of these and you don’t believe d) you are faced with a paradox, aren’t you?

On the one hand you believe something and then in the next breath you say it’s not true. So which is it?

If you recognize that d) is not true for you then quietly acknowledge this to yourself and then notice how you feel.

Now if you wish, say this statement to your self:
“My illness is genetic” and notice how it feels.

Does it make you feel good inside. If not then please acknowledge this to yourself and again notice how you feel.

You see this belief is actually “toxic” to you, isn’t it.

That is because it likely makes you feel helpless, hopeless and sad inside. Do you therefore want this kind of toxic belief living inside you?

If you want to take this journey further you may wish to visit the web site below in my bio.

“First Aid for Felines - How to Keep Your Car Safe from Harm

Cats are known for their curious and adventurous nature. Curiosity doesn’t always kill the cat, but can often cause injury. The owner will likely have to get the cat stabilized before taking it to the veterinarian. Any home with a cat should have a feline first aid kit assembled and handy.

A first aid kit for a cat contains many of the same items it would for a human.

* A roll of absorbent cotton and some cotton balls,
* gauze pads and tape,
* a pair of small scissors with rounded tips,
* tweezers,
* instant ice pack,
* hydrogen peroxide,
* a bulb syringe for suctioning mucous from mouth or nose
* sterile eyewash solution for cats,
* a clean, white cotton sock (to cover wounded paws),
* small flashlight,
* rectal thermometer,
* injection syringe without the needle (to give liquid medication),
* unflavored electrolyte liquid (like Pedialyte).

Place all the items in a sturdy plastic container with a secure lid. Write your veterinarian’s name and phone number on the lid, as well as that of the closest emergency pet hospital. If you travel often and leave your cat with another person, put several copies of a signed release form in the first aid kit authorizing the caregiver to approve necessary treatment.

Cat are great explorers and care must br taken with potential hazards in and around the home. particularly with young kittens. watch out for hot surfaces and liquids in the kitchen, unguarded fires, electric cables, sewing pins and needles (especially with cotton attached) and open windows on upper stories.

In the garden make sure the dustbins are secure as cats may scavenge and eat decayed food or cut themselves on tins or glass. Being inquisitive, cats accidentally get shut in a shed or garage.

If your cat is injured, approach her calmly and carefully. Don’t assume that she won’t scratch or bite you - injured pets often react negatively at first to any attempt to touch them. Once you get close enough, place a towel over her head to “blind” her. The darkness created by the towel has a calming effect. You can also tightly wrap the towel around her body to keep her from struggling.

If your cat is bleeding heavily, it is important to slow or stop the flow as soon as possible. Use a clean towel or cloth to apply pressure directly to the wound. Change towels/cloths as needed, but keep pressure on until you reach a veterinarian. If necessary, you can apply thick gauze pads and use tape to secure them while you transport your cat. It is best, however, to keep pressure on the wound and have some one else drive.

If your cat seems to be choking, use a flashlight to see what she is choking on. If you can easily remove it, do so. If not, you will might need to perform a modified Heimlich maneuver.

Here’s what you need to do:

* Place the pet on its side on a hard surface.
* Place both hands behind the last rib and press down quickly and firmly - release immediately and repeat rapidly several times.
* Try to direct the force of your hands slightly forward - this will make your efforts more effective.
* Have someone carefully open the dog’s or cat’s mouth wide and attempt to retrieve the material from the throat as you compress the chest.

It is important to get proper training for this, as it can cause serious injury if done incorrectly. Many humane societies and animal welfare organizations offer classes on pet first aid, that include the Heimlich maneuver, CPR, and techniques for dealing with serious injury and poisoning.

Free Picture Editing for the Novice and Intermediate Photo Taker

As a technology guy, I’m often asked about the software I use for various applications. The most recently asked for application is “How do I edit my pictures after I take them with this neat new digital camera?” The simplest, best program I have found is one called Picasa offered free by Google. Why Picasa? Ease of use is the first reason, as it’s just double click on an image and you can crop, reduce red eye, or brighten a picture in just a few easy clicks. My favorite reason for using Picasa is one that has nothing to do with editing pictures, and everything to do with finding my pictures on my hard drive. When you first launch Picasa, it asks you if you want to search your whole hard drive for images. Definitely say yes, and you’ll be surprised at where some of your pictures might be hiding, as not everyone is as disciplined as me and puts all their photos in their My Photos folder on their hard drive.

Just as important as image editing is image re-sizing. Just because you have a shiny new digital camera does not mean that you should e-mail full MB shots to everyone in your address book. Instead, take the time to re-size your pictures before you send them so they don’t take hours for your friends with dial up to download, and so it doesn’t clog up your and your friend’s families inboxes. The easiest way to do this is with a neat little program called PicSizer. PicSizer allows you to re-size complete folders of images with just a few clicks. This is also a free piece of software, and one that is quite simple to use. Simply select the folder with the big pictures, select a new folder to put the smaller pictures in, select the size of the pictures you wish to re-size too (I recommend 25% or smaller of the original size) and away you go. Simple as that.

The last piece of software is one that is a little more advanced, but one that you can easily learn to use and love, and it’s called GIMPShop, a take-off on the $599 Adobe Photoshop product used by image editing professionals. You can do some cool editing with GIMPShop, things you can’t do with many other free applications. Oh yeah, did I mention, GIMPShop is free, just like all the other software I mentioned?

To find these great resources, it’s easiest to just go to http://www.google.com and insert the name of the software you’re looking for (Picasa, PicSizer, or GIMPShop) and you should be transported to the site you need to get the software to make it great!

Do you have the desires to get a new bathroom and require a bkr loan

A moneylender in Allentown Pennsylvania or so can have a total different actual rate of interest for a 10000 dollar loan then a bank in Odessa Texas and that makes a immense clear gap in your yearly costs.

Check up to see if the merchant bank who is willing to give you a credit loan is respectable. Nowadays you can check into rates quickly at websites and experience if there are other conditions you should be aware of. Be sassy today to inspect if you have a nice special offer or if you don’t with the bank that offers you a money loan. This is the reason why now you really need to check out and visualize if you can have a bank loan at a secure percent rate. Lots of of the merchant banks wil show you a interest rate that is looking serious but feels gravely or so after a while. It doesn’t matter if you live in Columbia South Carolina or in Albany New York a proficient online inspection will alleviate you often a lot of inconvenience. 9.8 percent loan rate may appear so just but will that be unremitting after you’re going to pay back your money loan.

Feeding Your Pet Stingray - The Essentials of Maintaining a

Stingrays will eat a wide variety of foods. Maintaining a varied diet is extremely important in captive animals, as monocultural diets incur a risk of nutritional deficiencies. Stingrays are very active, and should be fed at least once a day, preferably twice or even three times daily. The daily diet can be varied in order to create some environmental enrichment as well as balanced nutrition for the rays.

First Foods

First foods for newly acquired rays should be blackworms or tubifex worms. These foods seem to be the most readily accepted, and are small enough to be inadvertently ingested either by mouth or through the spiracle, thereby giving the ray an opportunity to taste these possibly unfamiliar foods by chance. Foods that have been used for very small specimens, such as the teacup rays, are small insect larvae such as mosquito larvae, small shrimp known as ghost shrimp or glass shrimp, live adult brine shrimp, and blackworms. Chitinous foods such as shrimp provide less nutritional value than do soft-bodied foods, and so should not be used as sole food items.

The best way to be certain that your new stingray is feeding is to watch the spiracles as the ray passes over food on the bottom of the tank. If it is eating, you will see the spiracles opening and closing rapidly, or fluttering, as the food is ingested and water is passed from the mouth and out the spiracles. Once you observe a newly acquired ray readily feeding on black-worms or redworms introduce finely chopped night crawlers in small quantities. Once stingrays recognize these as food, most will readily eat them. Later, experiment with other types of food.

Types of Food

Live Foods

Feed live foods, including blackworms or tubifex worms, in quantities adequate to allow a small amount to be left in the tank so the rays can browse later. However, when cleaning the substrate, note whether a significant amount of living worms is present; blackworms and tubifex worms will colonize the substrate if not eaten and add to the nitrogenous waste production in the aquarium.

Nonlive, Nonaquatic Foods

Chopped earthworms, redworms, or night crawlers and any nonlive, nonaquatic foods should be fed in smaller quantities to prevent any overlooked food from decomposing in the tank. Keep in mind that stingrays have relatively small mouths-a 10-inch (25-cm) ray may have a mouth that is 1/2 to 3/4 inch (13 to 19 mm) wide, so chopped food items must be small enough to be eaten easily. If a ray ingests a piece of food and repeatedly spits it out and ingests it again, this usually indicates that the particle is too large. Some ray species, such as antenna rays, have extremely small mouths relative to their size.

Once acclimated, rays often develop techniques for eating larger pieces of food; for example, newly imported rays may have difficulty consuming even small chopped pieces of night crawlers. Eventually, however, they learn to eat an entire worm by sucking it into their oral cavity without chewing. Newly acquired rays also often ignore feeder goldfish but they quickly learn to chase down and consume feeders, even learning where they hide in the tank.

Commercially Prepared Foods

Stingrays may learn to eat other unfamiliar foods such as brine shrimp, pellet foods, or other commercially prepared foods. While there is probably no harm in offering these foods to rays, it is best to use fresh, live, or frozen foods as the dietary staple. Although stingrays often do not initially accept frozen or other nonliving foods, they may soon learn to eat these foods after they have been acclimated. A benefit of frozen foods is that they are less likely than live foods to introduce diseases or parasites.

Hand-feeding

Occasionally, a well-acclimated specimen will fail to gain weight, even though you are offering enough food. Several things may cause this problem; the most likely possibility is that it is not competing efficiently for food against other fish in the aquarium, or it may have a parasitic infestation. Stingrays occasionally do not seem to learn where foods can be found during feeding times, and are always in the wrong part of the tank during those times. In these cases, it is helpful to hand-feed such specimens. By this I do not mean feeding with your hands. Although some aquarists do this with stingrays, I do not recommend it because of the possibility of being accidentally stung. Remember that stingrays are wild animals, and no matter how accustomed your specimens become to your presence, it is impossible to always accurately predict their response to humans. Instead, you should always perform the hand-feeding of specimens with long forceps or a similar instrument. Stingrays generally avoid metal objects and appear to be frightened by metal; however, because they can sense metal, they will quickly learn that when there is a metal object in the aquarium, food is being offered. In this way, you can teach your stingray to feed directly from forceps, and selectively feed it more food.

Simply hold a night crawler (or a piece of night crawler) in the forceps, and hold the worm in the aquarium so that the ray can touch it with its fin. It should eat the worm immediately. After a few feedings in this manner, allow the forceps to touch the ray while it is eating the worm. It will quickly learn to associate the forceps with feeding and soon you will find that the ray will pounce on the forceps as soon as it touches it, eagerly looking for a treat!

How Much and How Often

The key to having well-fed stingrays in your aquarium is providing plenty of food. Unlike most fish that swim quietly between feedings, stingrays search constantly for food, looking under and around tank ornaments, moving driftwood, rocks, filters, and even other fish! This high activity level translates to a high metabolic rate, which means that while searching for food rays continue to burn energy. If they use up energy looking for food, but do not find any, they will lose weight. To compensate for this loss of energy, it is essential to provide adequate food. I cannot stress this enough. Hobbyists sometimes tell me that they feed their rays three times weekly, thinking that this is adequate. Stingrays should be fed at least twice, and usually three times, daily. In spite of these frequent feedings, rays will still constantly look for food between feedings!

When feeding significant quantities of live feeder goldfish, it is wise to add vitamin B1 to the feeder supply. Goldfish contain the enzyme thiaminase, which destroys thiamin, or vitamin B1, and this vitamin must be replenished. It should be your practice to add one 50-mg tablet to each 500 gallons (1893 L) of water every two weeks. You can add the tablets directly to the sump of the wet-dry filter; or as an alternative, the tablets can be added directly to the tank.

Acquire Discount Cycling Supplies on the World Wide Web

There are a couple of things you’ll need to obtain when you begin cycling. The first and most obvious is a first-class mountain bike that fits you! Although that may well seem like a no-brainer, stacks of people begin out on bicycles that are either too little, or produced with poor quality parts, basically because they are significantly less expensive. The proper fit & a well manufactured bicycle can make your trip a lot easier, yet, do not be tempted to bargain shop for your racing bike. However, it will be better to obtain one that will last you a very long time. Once you have a bicycle that is suitable for you, it is time to buy the other cycling items that will help you to become a happy cyclist.

Lights: The minimum required by UK law for your bicycle is a few reflectors. Although a headlight and tail light are helpful, even in daylight hours. When it’s dark and rainy, they can make a substantial difference in your visibility to cars. Find a wide selection of cycling items today at Sportswear-Equipment.com.

Tools: Just like driving a motor vehicle, accidents do crop up while you are on your bike. Therefore, it is important that you keep some type of tool kit on you at all times to take care of flat tires, uncooperative chains, loose bolts & other issues.

Helmet: While it’s legal in most places to go without a cycling helmet, in a lot of others, one is required. If you’re hoping to bike on a regular basis, it’s clever to have one even in places where no helmet law exists.

Clothes: Although special cycling clothing is without doubt optional, it is sensible to pay close attention to what you’re wearing. Loose apparel ought to be avoided, or tucked up so they do not get jammed in the chain.

Locks: Unless you’re lucky enough to live in an area where you are able store your bicycle inside all the time, a security device is vital. Even in the countryside, there are people who will happily steal and resell your bicycle.

The Dead God of Copan (in English and Spanish)

English Version

And the Death God said: “Let it rise to its glory in the Rio Valleyfor a season; then let it be gone, we shall call it Copan…”

Prologue: Empires come and go, liken to cosmic events, or the storms around the world: Atlantis, Mu, Greece, Persia, Rome, the Inca Nation, and even the great Maya heroic times of Copan, in Central America. All came and all left, one way or another; now just dust and artifacts in the spiral of time. But I shall pick out one, just one king, Smoke-Imix [-God K], for he was the last of the great warriors, or so I believe.

[The Saga begins]

Before there was ‘new light,’ the 8th Lord of Night ruled in the Valley of Copan…then light broke out [3114 BC] over the Copan Valleyand women and men walked hand in hand to create a new civilizationbut where there is peace, there is blood in the sands…and this is where it all began….

1.
[628 AD] It was the residue of Atlantis
So some have saidnow dead Copanthe Athens of another world
Standing tall in the Great Plaza of
Copancarved in stone
Stained with blood redtones

[Here…here]
Is the Stelae of Smoke-Imix-God K
The Great Maya warrior King
Giving praise to Tlaloc:
Tlalocthe renowned Jaguar-god
(Smoke-Imix, ruler of the 12th Dynasty)
Lord and god of the Copan Valley

2.
The King
Ah! the blood he gave, the blood he took
Splattered on every stone and brook
Ruler for sixty-eight years…
(With no Atlanteon tears)
He was a builder, like the Pharaohs,
Like Gilgamesh of old Uruk;
Inscribed on monuments, everywhere…
(Was his profound works)

3.
Rio Copan Valley
In the Rio Copan Valley, came drought, defeat, rivalry between king and nobility that broke the back and the dreams of the Copan kings; and so it fell to its once unfailing fate, and faded away, at its zenithah! …it was a spectacular vista once, now fading, fading…away a…, amongst the shrubs, dust and weeds….

Remortgages and Secured Loans in a Credit Crunch

Are remortgages and secured loans still an option in today’s troubled times? What actually happens to remortgage / secured loans markets when a credit crunch and a housing market crisis come hard on the heels of a decade of rapid house prices increases?

The first thing to note is this: it’ll take a long ‘crash’ to wipe out all the gains of the last decade (and cause serious problems for anyone thinking about a secured loan or remortgage). When house prices peaked in October 2007, according to Nationwide’s House Price Index, the average house had taken just ten years to more than treble in value, rocketing from £60,754 (Q3 1997) to £186,044.

It’s true that prices then dropped around 9% (to £169,316) by July 2008, but this only took them back to the kind of price levels we’d seen in September 2006. In other words, it took nine months to wipe out the gains of the 13 pre-peak months.

It’s always dangerous to draw parallels with previous housing market downturns, but looking back to 1989 (the last time house prices peaked), prices went down about 20% over three and a half years before starting to climb again. Prices are dropping faster this time, but the recent decade of rapid rises shows just how much demand there is for housing - or rather how much demand there will be as soon as the mortgage market picks up again…

Whatever lies ahead, the average person who’s owned their house for the last decade could easily have over £100,000 of equity - enough collateral to remortgage or secure a substantial loan. Aside from the increases in the property value, there’s also the ten years of mortgage payments to take into consideration.

Of course, anyone who’s already secured a loan against their property in the past would have less equity to draw on now - unless they’d used that secured loan to finance home improvements, potentially increasing the value of their house (and therefore their equity).

Just because the equity is there, it doesn’t necessarily mean it can be accessed. Lenders have become very cautious about lending money, even if the would-be borrower is offering to secure it against property. After all, a house is less valuable as security at a time like this, when property is steadily decreasing in value and hard to sell - every lender knows that other lenders are equally hesitant about granting mortgages, which is significantly reducing demand in the housing market.

So mortgages and secured loans have become both harder to obtain and more expensive. Lenders are also less willing to lend as much: many are limiting remortgages to 80% of the property’s value, as they don’t know what will happen to prices and can’t rely on natural price appreciation to guarantee recovery of the funds.

However, even though the criteria are stricter, homeowners with enough equity (and the means to make the repayments) can still withdraw it - so for them, a secured loan or remortgage is still an option.
